Women’s Devotional – Day 17

Crosspointlive   -

We are called.

God calls us to live set apart.

He calls us to be lights in our environments and share the overflowing love and grace He has given us. It is our job as followers of Jesus to use what the Lord has provided us with, to give back and to serve His kingdom. Accepting Jesus into our lives and allowing Him access to every part of ourselves to change and transform us helps us to do exactly that. God calls us every day, it’s our job to hear, listen and respond faithfully to what He calls us to do in that given moment.

As for me, I am a senior in high school, it’s often challenging for me to have the courage or motivation to do what the Holy Spirit is instructing me to do, or sometimes I find myself so caught up in the environment I don’t listen for Him at all.

That’s why I have found ways in my personal walk with Jesus that help me hold myself accountable to putting God first no matter who I’m around, or how busy I am. Things such as reading my Bible, and spending quiet time with the Lord first thing in the morning, to keep his word fresh in my head and close to my heart so I can apply it throughout my day.

The Bible gives us perfectly laid out examples on how to live set apart for Jesus.

Galatians 5:22-26

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

This passage talks about the fruits of the spirit and how by accepting Christ into our hearts, he takes our bad fruits (selfishness, anger, bitterness. . .) and helps us to replace them with the fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness’, gentleness and self-control.)

By the power of Jesus, we can live by the spirit.

No this doesn’t mean have to be perfect, that’s why we cling to Jesus; because He walked this path perfectly and died for us because He knew we couldn’t!

In Proverbs 11:25 It speaks on generosity, and how we can refresh and uplift peers.

Proverbs 11:25

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Now for one of my favorites, John 15:2, this verse explains how Jesus cuts off all of the bad parts of us and replaces them with fruits that will show off His character.

John 15:2

He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

And lastly, in John 15:8 it says that by bearing His fruit, we show that we are bold followers of Jesus Christ.

John 15:8

This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Living by the spirit can plant seeds in witness’s hearts. Show love because Jesus loves you! Don’t be afraid to let them know how Jesus has changed your entire life.

Live set apart for Jesus!

Guided Prayer

Lord,

Thank you for transforming me and helping me to learn and grow in faith every day. I pray that you can give me the strength to live boldy and set apart for Jesus as you have called me to do. Help me to live set on the spirit, and not the flesh. I pray I can hear the provisions you call me to, and faithfully follow in your direction. Help me to confidently rest in you Lord.

Amen
