Women’s Devotional – Day 22

Crosspointlive   -

You’ve worked all day, done the laundry (and put it away), washed the dishes, vacuumed, mopped, made dinner, and helped the kids with their homework.

Why?

Because you love them.

You listen to all the stories your husband has to tell when he gets home, laugh, cry, and be frustrated at all the right moments, and why?

Because you love him.

As moms and wives, we do everything out of Love (at least we try).

But where does our Love come from? Are we born with it? Does it come as soon as we become moms? Do we learn what to do or not to do from our parents? Or do we love because

“He first loved us” ( 1 John 4:19).

We must understand that our Love comes from the one who created us, gave us life, and showed us love through His sacrifice.

As much as we would love to think that Hallmark has the perfect love stories that always end happily ever after, it’s all a fantasy. In real life, we have disappointment, heartache, and loss.

I John 4:11-12

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

God is Love. Pure and simple.

If we say we love God, we should show others the same Love. God sent his Son to die for us, to take away all the ugliness in our lives, to cleanse us, and to make us new and beautiful. God makes us perfect in his Love. Perfect Love, what more could we want. It’s what we look for in a spouse, what we want in our parents. We love our children like this, but perfect Love can only be found in a relationship with God.

But ladies, what do we hold onto when we feel unloved, have poured everything out, and exhausted the reservoir? We lean on Love.

1 John 4:16

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

When we love God, and He lives in us, we are guaranteed the true happy ending that Hallmark could never give.

Guided Prayer

Father we thank you for your love for us. An unwavering, generous and unfailing love. We pray that you fill us each day so we can share who you are making us to be with those around us. Give us the wisdom and fervor to share your love with those around us and show who you are to a world who so desperately needs you. Take us and use us to show our children and spouses what it truly means to be loved by you.

Amen.
