Women’s Devotional – Day 15
Psalm 116:1-2
“I love the LORD, for He has heard my supplications (prayers). Because He has inclined His ear to me, I will call upon Him as long as I live.” (NKJV)
One commentary reads: “I love the LORD” in Hebrew suggests deep excitement and emotion, AWE & AMAZEMENT!
It goes on to say: “He has inclined His ear to me,” which speaks of the love of God, bending from His place of Glory to meet the needs of His people.
Psalm 18:1-2
“I will love you, O LORD, my Strength. The LORD is my Rock and my Fortress and my Deliverer; my God, my Strength, in whom I will trust; my Shield and the Horn (symbol of power) of my Salvation, my Stronghold.”
I love our Mighty, Compassionate Lord. Plain and simple. He has been my Salvation for over half a century now (Whew!). And like “the woman at the well”—I had to come to the end of myself—to “drop my watering jar” of routines, habits & sins in order to fill up with Jesus’ offer of Living Water: freedom, hope & joy!
My relationship with Jesus has grown day by day & moment by moment, but it did not really begin to soar until I began making time every possible day to meet with Him one on one.
I admit that I’m a morning person, so this is how I start my day…in His Presence: reading His written Word, praising & worshipping Him, seeking forgiveness for daily sins, and PRAYING FOR OTHERS!!! (In fact, I may have already prayed with you or for you at one time or another!!)
Oh how I Love Jesus!!! He’s been so good to me. ME?? Yes…even ME!!
I’ve claimed those scriptures that remind me that He will always take care of His own:
Ps. 55:22:
“Cast your burden on the Lord & He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
AND Matthew 11:28 where Jesus says:
“Come to me, all you who are weary & burdened & I will give you rest!”
Or Ps. 46:1-2
“God is our Refuge & Strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Therefore I will not fear!”
And on and on and on…. the Bible is full of His promises!!!
**Side note** my husband knows that when I get out of bed in the morning I will make my way to the Keurig for a cup of coffee and head for my “sanctuary” for time alone with my God.
**Another side note** my fun & loveable husband enjoys (greatly enjoys!) ordering things online & from those little catalogs (that he looks for in the mailbox daily! ) which are filled with frivolous, quirky and, yes, some pretty useful items once in a while. He absolutely loves to buy things for others, so he lovingly searches for unique items just to bless someone he knows!
I should not have been surprised when I was the recipient of one of his “finds” a couple years ago.
It was a nicely framed quote that now hangs on the wall near my “prayer space” which reads:
BE THE KIND OF WOMAN that when your feet HIT THE FLOOR EACH MORNING,
the Devil says: “Oh CRAP—SHE’S UP!!”
Be assured…I want to BE THAT WOMAN! Praying, praying & praying some more. Seeking GOD’s will and HIS way! Standing in the “GAP” (Ezekiel 22:30) for others and asking our JESUS to bind/block the ENEMY from my family, my friends, my community & neighbors, my Crosspoint Family, Pastors & their families, Staff & their families & Ministries!
Now I’m praying that YOU choose to be that kind of woman who is struck with AWE & AMAZEMENT daily; one who is filled with reverence & worship for our HOLY FATHER, His SON & His HOLY SPIRIT; one who talks with God…not at Him; one who is obedient to HIS WORD; one who LISTENS for His voice so you may know Him more intimately; and one who PRAYS for others before the ENEMY devours them!
Therefore: Will you carve out some part of each day to:
“Be still & know that He is God”? (Ps. 46:10)
Will you listen for His voice speaking to your heart:
“Speak Lord for your servant listens!”? (1 Samuel 3:9)
Do you believe that when you SEEK HIM that He will “incline His ear to you” –as He bends from His place in Glory to meet with you? (Ps. 116:1-2)
Are you “THAT WOMAN”? (Oh, that you are… or soon will be!!!)
Guided Prayer
HOLY FATHER, You alone are worthy of all my praise!
