Men’s Devo: Day 6
Day 1: Sharing and Supporting Each Other
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 (ESV)
In the trenches of a football game, as an offensive lineman, you learn the true meaning of teamwork and grit. When faced with a powerful defender, the solution isn’t to try and handle it alone. Instead, you double-team that threat with a fellow lineman, combining your strength and strategy to keep your quarterback safe and your plays moving forward. This is a prime example of how sharing a tough task can lead to success.
Galatians 6:2 calls us to do the same in our lives—sharing and bearing each other’s burdens. Just as you rely on your teammates to block and protect, we should also rely on each other to help carry life’s heavy loads.
Sharing Your Burdens: Just as you wouldn’t try to block a tough opponent on your own, don’t face your struggles solo. When life throws you a curveball—be it work stress, personal issues, or health concerns—reach out to those you trust. Open up and let them know where you’re struggling. This isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s about harnessing the strength of your support network to get through tough times.
Helping Others with Theirs: Likewise, when someone around you is struggling, step up and help them out. Whether it’s a buddy going through a rough patch or a teammate who’s hit a rough spot, be the guy who steps in and offers a hand. This could mean offering practical support like helping with tasks or simply being there to listen. Just as you double-team a tough defender to protect your quarterback, be the kind of person who makes life a bit easier for those around you by sharing their burden.
In both sharing and helping, you’re showing real strength and character. It’s about being the kind of man who lifts others up and doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff.
Reflection: Are there specific challenges you need to share with someone, or ways you can step up to support those around you? How can you be a more reliable teammate in both your personal and professional life?
Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to reach out when I’m struggling and the strength to support those around me. Help me to be a reliable and steadfast friend, ready to share burdens and lend a hand where it’s needed. Let my actions reflect Your strength and grace in all that I do.
