Women’s Devotional – Day 20

Crosspointlive   -

I didn’t grow up in a wealthy household.

My stepdad often tells the story of when he started dating my mom and first visited our house. We had a picnic table, the kind made for the outdoors, in our living room, and that was it.

No other furniture.

My mom was doing all she could to make ends meet and we had what we needed.

To tell you the truth, we had no idea our home looked different. Maybe some of this was because we grew up in the golden era, before the comparison trap of social media, or maybe it’s because most of our friends and family lived a simple lifestyle, but we were happy.

Now that I am an adult, I can look back and understand the sacrifices my parents made to ensure we had what we needed and even most of what we wanted, but we certainly weren’t royalty.

But the Lord has something different to say about that “social status.”

Ephesians 1:4-5

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

We are adopted into a royal family. The family of a king!

Today, reflect on the incredible truth that you are a beloved daughter of the King!

Before the very foundations of the earth, God chose you to be part of His family.

You are not an afterthought, you are not a mistake; you are intentionally and deeply loved by the Creator of the universe.

He knew exactly what He was getting when He paid the price for you.

Reflection Questions

1. How does knowing you are a daughter of the King impact the way you see yourself?

2. In what area(s) of your life do you struggle to fully embrace your identity as a daughter of God?

3. What can you do practically to remind yourself of your true identity in Christ?

Guided Prayer

Father God, thank you for choosing me. Thank you for knowing me fully and still paying the price for my salvation. I am so blessed, honored and humbled to know that I have been adopted as your child. Help remind me when I forget my true identity in you and help my heart be humble enough to hear your corrections when my mind and the enemy begin to embed in lies. Thank you for this time that I get to spend with you each day.

In your precious name, I pray. Amen.
