Women’s Devotional – Day 2

Crosspointlive   -

“I am the daughter of a King who is not moved by the world. For my God is with me and goes before me. I do not fear because I am His.” -Unknown

Father, for some of you when you hear that word it reminds you of how much your earthly father cherished, loved, treasured, and protected you growing up.  For others when you hear the word Father, it reminds you of how your earthly father was too busy for you, maybe he was emotionally distant, abusive, neglected you, or maybe he was absent from your life.

As a little girl, and even as a woman we want to feel protected, loved, and cherished. Our early father is the first man in our lives that has the opportunity to affirm our beauty, worth, and value.

Unfortunately, for so many girls, this is not what they experience from their earthly fathers. They don’t experience the affirmation and love that they should from their earthly fathers.

Sometimes we will project the feelings we have towards our earthly father to our heavenly Father.  You may wonder if your earthly father didn’t protect you, how is your heavenly father going to make you feel safe? Or maybe you’ve thought my earthly father has let me down time after time, is my heavenly father going to let me down too?

God is identified as our Father 265 times in Scripture. If you believe the Bible is true, if you have a personal relationship with him, then sister listen to these truths…

God is our Father.

Romans 8:15b

You received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children,  Now we call him “Abba, Father.”

God will never leave or abandon his daughters.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t be afraid, for I am you God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Deuteronomy 31:6b

For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you.  He will neither fail you nor abandon you.

God wants his daughters to cast their burdens on him.

Psalms 55:22a

Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you.

1 Peter 5:7

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

God will always strengthen his daughters.

Psalms 46:1-3, 7

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.  Let the oceans roar and foam.  Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!  The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.

God delights in his daughters.

Zephaniah 3:17

For the LORD your God is living among you.  He is a mighty savior.  He will take delight in you with gladness.  With his love, he will calm all your fears.  He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

God created his daughters and knows them intimately.

Psalms 139:1-5

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.  You know when I sit down or stand up.  You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.  You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.  You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD.  You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.

Psalms 139:13-16

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

No matter what our relationship is like with our earthly father, I love that I have these promises to cling to.  Our earthly fathers are human, and they will let us down but our Abba Father will never let us down. He is a Good, Good Father!!

Guided Prayer

Abba Father, Thank you for your promises that you will never leave me or forsake me. Thank you for carrying my burdens and being my strength when I’m too weak. Thank you for always being there for me, taking delight in me, and for loving me like no one else ever will!  You’re a Good, Good Father!!
