Women’s Devotional – Day 4

Crosspointlive   -

2 Corinthians 5:17
17  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Galatians 4:7
7  So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

1 Peter 2:9
9  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Imagine looking into a broken mirror, your face appearing fractured and distorted. In this
mirror your identity is unclear. It’s hard to see the complete picture when pieces might be
missing, or the soft lines of your face now appear jagged.

Our sin will do this to us.

It fights to hide our true identity and it will crack and splinter away at our heart. The anxiety we face as a wife, a mother, a daughter, or even just a friend will distort our view of who we truly are.

Our identity, though, is found in Christ – not in any emotions that might control us.

The Bible tells us that in Christ we are a new creation. It says that we are God’s chosen people, called out of darkness and into His light. In Christ, we have been set free from our sin, our fear, and anxiety and can fully become what God has chosen for us. In Christ, we are made whole. We can rest in the truth that God has given us this identity in Him. There is nothing we can do to gain His love; it’s freely given despite our sin! In Him, our identity is received, not achieved. By clinging to His love instead of our sin or fear, we will step into a life full of grace and freedom. Instead of a distorted image, we will see what God sees; His beautiful creation, chosen by Him to be light in a dark world.

Guided Prayer

Father, thank you for the love you poured out on us from the cross. Thank you for saving us,
even though we didn’t deserve it. We come to you broken, with our identity wrapped up in our sin, and ask that you lead us into the life you have set apart for us. Lead us to our true identity that can only be found in you. We love you and we thank you. Amen.
