Women’s Devotional – Day 16

“Who Do You Think You Are”?

Do you ever have those days where the enemy comes at you and stirs up thoughts of shame and doubts with a question like this?

Let’s unpack this for a moment?

You might think who you are is what you do; teacher, accountant, business owner, soldier,
homemaker, retiree or chief cook and bottle washer.

Maybe you think who you are is more of what you are; a mom, daughter, sister, grammy or aunt?

Perhaps you identify as Married, Single, Divorcee or Widow or maybe you are just feeling like you’re a nobody, but are any of these who you really are?

As a sister in Christ, who does God say you are?

He calls us his children.

1 John 3:1

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

John 1:12

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

Not only does he call us his children, he says we are his very own TREASURED children

Deuteronomy 7:6 NLT

For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.

He calls us his MASTERPIECE

Ephesians 2:10 NLT

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Jesus also calls us his friends.

John 15:15

I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.

God says while we were still sinners, he died for us. So even in our worst yucky-muck day, he still chose to die for us because he treasures his Masterpiece.

You are a partaker of His promise.

Ephesians 3:16

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.

You are a citizen of heaven.

Philippians 3:20

But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.

If you are struggling with who you think you are, I encourage to daily get into God’s word and intentionally seek the Lover of your soul and cling to the promises of who you you are to God.

Seek to know him so well that when the ememy comes at you with “who do you think you are” you can say, ” Oh, I don’t think, I KNOW who I am”.

A beautiful, treasured masterpiece who was so worth saving.

Guided Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for your truth and for helping me to know that I am your treasured masterpiece. On the days I forget this, please help me to remember that I am your child and that you loved me so much that you sent your son Jesus to die for me.
