Women’s Devotional – Day 7

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,”
Colossians 1:13 ESV

I became part of a new kingdom, a new family, when I came to Jesus as a teenager over 40 years ago.
I learned that even though I live in this world, I am not of this world. (John 17:16)

I have been given a new identity as a child of God. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

The Bible tells us, “We have become a new creation in Christ and the old life is gone and new life has come. (2 Cor. 5: 17)

We were once darkness, but now we are light in the Lord. (Ephesians 5:8)

In order to walk as children of the light, We must no longer listen to the voices that remind us of who we used to be, but now we listen to the voice of God speaking the truth of Who we are.

In His love, He brought us out of darkness and sin, and transferred us into His marvelous light, and into a new life. (Col. 3:3)

One of the biggest challenges we face in making the identity change is seeing ourselves as God sees us.

Romans 12:2 tells us we’re transformed by the renewing of our minds. So It is imperative that we study Gods Word daily to understand what He has done for us and what He says about us.
When we understand and affirm these things, we can confidently walk out our new identity by faith.

Remember, faith is not based on our feelings.

There is an older favorite worship song that I found helpful in declaring my identity in Christ. It was written by Israel Houghton, titled, “I Know Who I Am”. It contains truths from Gods Word that declares that I am forgiven, I am secure, I’m confident, I’m loved and more. I would meditate on these and sing and declare them often, so that I could confidently live them out daily.

We are all in a process of growth every day in our faith walk. I’m so grateful that I’m not alone on this journey, and “ He who began this good work in me will be faithful to complete it in me” (Philippians 1:6) and He never gives up on us!!

Other scriptures to study: Ephesians 1:4, 5:8-9, 1 John 1:7

Ask God, to show you what are some wrong thoughts you have believed about yourself.

Then Find at least 3 scriptures that speak the truth of who you are to replace the lies.
Write them down on 3 x5 cards and post where you’ll see them daily to memorize and meditate on.
