Proverbs 14

A wise woman who builds her house.
Proverbs 14 has so much wisdom to share with us as women, and it starts off with one of my favorite verses.
“The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” — Proverbs 14:1
As women, God has given us a profound ability to build our homes, our relationships, our faith, and the environment around us.
But Proverbs 14 reminds us that the opposite is also true: with our own hands, attitudes, and decisions, we can tear down what we’re called to nurture.
The words we speak, the choices we make, and the habits we cultivate are either bricks in the foundation of our homes or tools of destruction. For instance, when we choose patience over frustration, we lay a brick of peace. When we choose to pray instead of worry, we build a roof of faith that shields our family from fear. But if we allow unchecked emotions, harsh words, or selfish habits to take over, we begin to chip away at the foundation God calls us to strengthen.
So how do we build instead of tear down? Proverbs 14 offers a lot of wisdom and guidance, let’s look at a few more key verses that stands out.
1. Guard Your Words (v. 3)  Words are powerful tools. Speak life, encouragement, and truth over yourself (yes, speak love over yourself friend) and everyone around you. What comes out of our mouth it’s a choice we make — do not lash out with pride.
2. Walk in Truth (v. 12) — Not every path that seems right is from God. Stay in His Word and seek His wisdom.
3. Choose Hard Work (v. 23) — A heart of discipline and diligence brings profit, whether in parenting, marriage, career or ministry. Don’t get caught up like most simply just talking the talk and not willing to get uncomfortable and put in real work.
5. Fear the Lord (v. 27) — Honor and respect for God are the foundation of everything we do.
4. Stay Slow to Anger (v. 29) — A patient heart builds unity and peace in the home.
Today, I encourage you to reflect on your role as a builder in your life. Ask God to show you areas where you might be tearing down and how you can begin to rebuild with wisdom, faith, and intentionality.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for calling me to be a builder. I surrender my words, actions, and habits to You. Help me to build a home, a life, and a heart that honors You. Help me see you in the details of our full days where I with ease choose You in our decisions and trusting You, Father to guide the process on your timing. Give me wisdom and strength to reflect Your love and grace in all I do. Teach me to fear You, walk in truth, speak life and be a refuge for those I love. Amen.
