Day 5: Trading What Fades for What Lasts

Scripture:
2 Corinthians 4:18 – as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Devotional:
Following Jesus is never about loss, even when it’s costs. It’s about exchange.
What fades is traded for what endures. What enslaves is traded for freedom. What exhausts is traded for peace.

Everything visible has an expiration date. Careers end. Bodies weaken. Money disappears. But your soul remains. When you build your life only on what fades, anxiety grows. When you live for what lasts, your life gains clarity and direction.

Jesus doesn’t strip things from us. He frees us from things that were never meant to carry the weight of our souls.

Reflection Questions:

  • What temporary thing are you treating as permanent?

  • What eternal thing have you been neglecting?

Action Step:

  • Lower one temporary priority this week to make room for something eternal. It’s all about the exchange.

Prayer:
Father God, help me loosen my grip on what won’t last. Teach me to hold these Earthly blessings with an open hand. Holy Spirit, lead me to invest my life in what never fades. Amen.
