Fight Night – Day Four

Day 4: What Following Jesus Really Costs
Scripture:
Matthew 16:24 – Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
Devotional:
Jesus never hides the cost of following Him. He speaks openly about denial, surrender, and carrying a cross.
But what He’s really asking us to lay down isn’t life, it’s control.
Most men don’t fear losing faith; they fear losing control. Yet the control we cling to often costs us peace, connection, and joy. Jesus invites us into a better way. One where surrender becomes the doorway to freedom.
Reflection Questions:
- Where are you trying to stay in control instead of trusting Jesus?
- What do you think would happen if you actually let go?
Action Step:
- Identify one area where you need to release control and intentionally invite Jesus to lead.
Prayer:
Father, I admit I like being in control. Help me trust You with what I’m holding onto. Reveal to me the places I am holding with a closed fist instead of an open hand. Lead me where I can’t, and shouldn’t, lead myself. Amen.
