Day 1: You’re Paying a Price
Scripture:
Mark 8:36–37 – For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? 37 For what can a man give in return for his soul?
Devotional:
Every man is paying a price for the life he’s living. Not someday. Not when things fall apart. Today. Whether you realize it or not, something is being spent. Time. Peace. Integrity. Relationships.
We often assume the bill comes later, but most of the cost shows up quietly. You don’t wake up one morning empty… you drift there.
Choice by choice. Compromise by compromise.
And Jesus cuts straight through the noise with one question: Is what you’re gaining worth what you’re losing?
This week isn’t about guilt or pressure. It’s about clarity. God already knows the true cost of your life. He’s inviting you to see it too. Nothing changes until a man is honest enough to admit what the current path is really costing him.
Reflection Question:
- Where in your life does the return no longer match the cost?
- What is one area where you feel tired, numb, or disconnected?
Action Step:
- Write down one area where you sense God inviting you to be more honest about what you’re paying.
Prayer:
Father God, give me the courage to see my life clearly. Show me what this path is really costing me. Holy Spirit, reveal the things I’m trying to hide, even from myself. I don’t want to drift anymore. Amen.
