Day 2: Counting the Cost Honestly

Scripture:
Luke 14:28–30 – For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

Devotional:
Jesus talks about counting the cost because He values truth over appearances. Before anyone builds something meaningful, they pause and assess. But many men build their lives on momentum instead of intention and then wonder why things feel unstable beneath the surface.

God isn’t asking for polished answers. He’s asking for honesty. He already knows where things are misaligned, but He waits for you to acknowledge them and surrender them. Healing doesn’t start with effort, it starts with awareness.

Slowing down long enough to evaluate your life before God is not weakness. It’s wisdom.

Reflection Questions:

  • What area of your life have you avoided examining closely to see if it aligns with God’s Word?
  • What are you afraid God might ask you to change? Be honest.

Action Step:

  • Spend a few quiet minutes today asking God to show you what you’ve been avoiding.

Prayer:
Father God, search me and tell me the truth about my life. Help me make my mind and my heart open to what You want me to change, Help me face what I’ve been avoiding, and trust You with what comes next. Amen.
