Hope When Life Hurts: Part 2

2 Corinthians 4:7-10

7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our bodies.

Our brokenness doesn’t make us useless.

Jeremiah 18:1-6

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear my words.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. 4 And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

2 Corinthians 4:7

7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

Your pain has a purpose

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted

and saves the crushed in spirit.

God doesn’t avoid your brokenness; He dwells in it.

Our wounds are where we find our witness.

Next Steps

  1. I will accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
  2. I will give up my false strengths.
  3. I will memorize Psalm 34:18

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted

and saves the crushed in spirit.

God doesn’t avoid your brokenness; He dwells in it.
